I realize that it was written a few years ago… and I still have to depart from some of the author`s misunderstandings about wisdom in “The Four Accords.” Note that the beginning of the book on domestication and dreams is an important preface to understanding the power of new chords. The system of faith is like a book of the law that dominates our minds. There is no doubt that everything written in this book of the law is our truth. We support all our judgments according to the book of the law, even if these judgments are contrary to our own inner nature. Even moral laws such as the Ten Commandments are brought to mind in the process of domestication. Gradually, all these agreements enter the book of law and these agreements govern our dream. There are thousands of agreements that you have made with yourself, with other people, with your dream of life, with God, with society, with your parents, with your spouse, with your children. But the main agreements are the ones you have with yourself. In these agreements, you tell yourself who you are, what you feel, what you believe and how you behave. The result is what you call your personality. In these agreements, you say, “It`s me. That`s what I think.
I can do certain things, and some things I can`t do. It`s a reality, it`s imagination. it is possible, it is impossible. When we see that it is our chords that dominate our lives, and that we do not love the dream of our lives, we must change the chords. When we are finally ready to change our agreements, there will be four very powerful agreements that will help us break the agreements that come from fear and exhaust our energy. Every time you break a deal, all the power you used to create it comes back to you. If you accept these four new agreements, they will create enough personal power for you to change the whole system of your old agreements. If your faith creates deep happiness in you, then I say, keep it. If they cause trouble, if the beliefs of others are different, consciousness can leave you with the choice of what you believe and what you let go. Many of our convictions, our concepts, our agreements were nourished to us as “truth” when we were young, and we accepted them literally and completely. The beginning of the four chords is about how we were domesticated by our caregivers in a “dream” of life. The only dream they gave us was the one they lived, which they received most often from their parents, etc.
It was not your choice to speak English. You did not choose your religion or moral values as they were there before you were born. We never had the opportunity to choose what to believe or not to believe. We have never opted for any of these agreements. We didn`t even choose our own name. The secret of unlocking your path to personal freedom is included in a dream, in our minds, in unconscious stories and chords that were made early in our lives – the fundamental belief behind the four chords. It is what he calls “domesticity” and the “dream of the planet” that creates our own suffering. This dream keeps tarnishing our heads. We are invaded by false thoughts and belief systems that fuel behaviors that do not serve us.
Tragically, we blindly repeat these patterns by recreating and justifying our stories without conscious consciousness. Don Miguel Rusz says you can`t free yourself until you wake up. As always, the first step towards any insight or improvement is to become aware of what is. We have to break many old arrangements and change a lot of domesticated beliefs to really keep a space for someone who hurts us or who is angry without judging to withdraw, defend, accuse, intellectualize, share their dream. To gain your freedom and become a modern spiritual warrior of Toltec, an artist of the spirit, they internalize these four chords. You get rid of the conditioning of your childhood and your culture.
